o MULTICULTURAL ROUNDTABLE (MLR) Diversity Training
If you are interested in issues of diversity (primarily race, gender, and sexual orientation) consider working with MLR to develop a diversity training program. The training's purpose is to promote self-examination concerning how Wash U students choose to interact with others, and what knowledge (or beliefs) students hold in matters of diversity, and why.
If you would like to help create this workshop, or think your student group would be interested in participating in it, contact Lauren Jackson at lmjackso@artsci.wustl.edu.

o Every Monday at 8:30, WUTV hosts an Open Studio where everyone is welcome to drop by and be put on TV! If you or your student group has an event that you want to publicize, or you just want to be on TV, RSVP for Open Studio by emailing us at wutv22@gmail.com! just a reminder, WUTV is located in the Gargoyle of Mallinckrodt right next to Subway.

· Summer Opportunity

o The Office of Student Life and Multicultural Affairs at The Graduate School of Northwestern University administers a Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP), and I would like your help with sharing information about this great program with your students of color. Throughout its 21-year history, the mission of the SROP has been twofold: (1) to increase diversity among students pursuing graduate education and (2) to provide a valuable academic experience for students who might not otherwise have access to such an opportunity. SROP is open to sophomores and juniors majoring in the social sciences, humanities, biological sciences, physical sciences, and engineering, and provides them with an opportunity for direct involvement in research. The program is eight weeks in length, from June 18 to August 9, 2007, and includes faculty supervised research, enrichment activities (i.e. graduate school application workshop, writing and public speaking workshops, etc.), and a research conference. Sophomores and juniors who are from groups which have been traditionally underrepresented in graduate schools (Native American, African American, and Hispanic) are encouraged to apply. For more information, please visit the following web site: http://www.tgs.northwestern.edu/studentlife/multiculturaloffice/research/srop/

· Volunteer Opportunity

o My name is Michele Fontaine, and I am the Volunteer Resource Coordinator for the Youth Technology & Education Center (YTEC). YTEC is a youth-focused academic center that provides a variety of activities for youths in grades 1-9 to improve their academic performance and cultural awareness. We are conveniently located on the eastern edge of the Central West End at 4471 Olive St. (Olive & Taylor), less than a 10 minute drive from WashU. Our hours of operation for our after-school program are 2:30pm-6:30pm, Monday-Friday.

§ There are a variety of volunteer positions at YTEC. Volunteers with a specialty may teach a class in an area of their expertise. Some examples of past and present volunteer-led classes include lessons in finance, science, sewing, architectural design, drama, and gardening. There are also volunteer positions involving clerical assistance, reception work, and recreational supervision. The majority of YTEC volunteers, however, are one-on-one and/or small-group tutors, and it is in this area where we have the greatest need. In addition to volunteer positions, YTEC now has about two paid "Academic Coach" positions open as well. Academic coaches aid a variety of students with homework, are involved with other general activities, and are responsible for generating ideas for program/activity implementation at least once per week. The rate of pay is $10/hr, but workers must be available to work everyday Mon-Fri from 3:30pm-6:30pm.

o If you would like more information about YTEC, feel free to check out our website, www.ytec-stl.org, email me, or call me at 314-531-9961 ext.14. Please help me inform your members about YTEC by discussing our work and volunteer opportunities at any upcoming meetings, and/or by posting our info. on your site or directing me to the proper authority to have this done. We are anxious to attract dedicated volunteers and employees to our YTEC community, and hopefully you can help me in this endeavor.
